All capital projects at Brandeis are designed and built to a LEED-Silver-equivalent or better standard. Building materials included cladding with recycled content, natural linoleum, recycled stone flooring, sustainable solid-surface material, urea-formaldehyde free wood products, low VOC paints, and carpet made with recycled fibers. Sustainability strategies included heat recovery with enthalpy wheel; high-performance glazing and sunshading; a green roof; a daylight harvesting system; and replacement of previously impervious paving with landscaping to reduce stormwater runoff.
